The Europe and Central Asia region is taken from the United Nations definition of the region. It is practical for our purpose as the International Financial Institutions (IFIs) discussed are also following this definition.
According to the activities of IFIs, the countries can be divided into the groups of donor countries and recipient countries. Donor countries are those which commit significant resources to the IFIs and recipient countries are those which receive loans from the IFIs.
The Vademecum deals with the discussed countries mainly from recipient countries' perspective. The receipient countries in the region are the following:
Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russian Federation, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Yugoslavia.
