Saulius was born in 1960. He received his degree in Industrial Power and Heat Supply Engineering from Kaunas Technical University . He was a founding member of the first independent environmental group in Lithuania (1987) as well as of the Lithuanian Green Movement (LGM) in 1988. Saulius was a board member of LGM and served as a vice-president of the Kaunas Regional Department of Environment Protection and a leader of the alternative community "ATGAJA". In 1994-1995 he attended postgraduate studies in Environmental Science in Kalmar University , Sweden . He has been working as an independent expert on environmental issues in a joint USA-Lithuanian consulting company since 1995. His NGO's main activities are energy policy, anti-nuclear campaigning and energy legislation both in Lithuania and in the Baltic region.
