Petko Kovatchev

Petko has been working for CEE Bankwatch Network as Bulgarian coordinator since June 1996 . He is one of the founders of the Sofia-based Centre of Environmental Information Education (CEIE) and he has been its Executive Director since 1994.
Recently Petko has been actively taking part in the following campaigns: the campaign for an alternative route for the Lyulin Motorway out of the Bankya Health Protection Zone; the social consequences of the closure of Units 1-4 at Kozloduy NPP; the campaign on Belene NPP; the campaign on the National Centre for Hazardous Waste; and co-founder and organiser of a Bulgarian NGO Coalition on the EU's Structural Funds
Petko has an MA degree in Economics from the University of National and Worlwide Economy, Sofia, Bulgaria. Petko is married with a daughter.
