Pavel Pribyl

Pavel joined CEE Bankwatch Network in 1995 as the coordinator for the Czech Republic, based within Hnuti DUHA/Friends of the Earth-Czech Republic.

He has been involved in activities to support the transportation field mainly through the "Save the Railways Coalition" (a coalition of civic initiatives and local municipalities established under the initiative of Hnuti DUHA in 1997), which was developing various pro-railway activities at the time when numerous local railways were under threat of cancellation. Since 1998 he has been active in the Billions for Sustainability project, focusing on the environmentally and socially beneficial use of the EU funds. In 2000 he was involved in the team that was responsible for environmental NGOs' events connected to the World Bank AGM in Prague. Between spring 2003 and December 2004 he was the representative of NGOs in the Managing Committee for the Infrastructure Operational Programme (ERDF financing), and since spring 2004 NGO representative in the working group for Cohesion fund in the environmental sector. In 2003 he was one of the co-founders of the international NGO coalition “Life for Danube, Oder and Elbe Rivers Coalition” and since then he has been a member of the Working Group for the assessment of the Danube-Oder-Elbe canal project that was set up by the Czech Minister of Environment.

For several years he has been a member of the board of the Green Circle – an association of the leading Czech environmental NGOs. Since 2004 he has also been coordinating the project “EU funds and Wastes” that is focusing on the regional and municipal planning of municipal waste management.

Pavel holds an MA degree in Applied Geophysics at Charles University, Prague.
