Nationality: Slovak
Languages: Slovak (native), Czech, English (fluent), German, Spanish (intermediate), Russian (understood)
Ivan holds Masters degrees in political science from the Trnava University, Trnava, Slovakia (2000-2005) and the Central European University, Budapest, Hungary (2005-2006). He specialised in political economy, with a particular focus on the 'welfare state reforms' in post-Communist Europe, the role of IFIs in these 'reforms,' and their resulting impacts in dismantling social and environmental standards. In the years 2003-2005, he coordinated research on the pension 'reform' in Slovakia, which in 2005 culminated in a joint info-campaign of the Social Self-defence Association and the Friends of the Earth (FoE)-CEPA about the risks of this 'reform' experiment. Since July 2006, he has worked as a national coordinator of FoE-CEPA in the CEE Bankwatch Network.
