Anelia Stefanova

Nationality: Bulgarian
Languages: English, Italian and Russian

Anelia joined CEE Bankwatch Network in 2000 as the Bulgarian National Coordinator in the NGO Za Zemiata (For the Earth). Her first assignment was the coordination of the "Save the Kresna gorge" Campaign that aims to prevent the negative impact of the Trans European Corridor N4 construction over the biodiversity of Kresna gorge, a future NATURA 2000.

Since 2000, as part of the project "Billions for Sustainability", she has also been monitoring the European Union Pre-accession funds in Bulgaria. During the project period she worked in cooperation with local NGOs and Initiative Committees on several projects applying for EU ISPA grants: the reconstruction and development of Sofia Airport; the National Center for Hazardous Waste Treatment in the Gledachevo region; the "Ljulin" Motorway.

Anelia has been a member of the ISPA Monitoring Committee in Bulgaria as a representative of Za Zemiata And in 2005 became CEE Bankwatch's Transport Coordinator.

Anelia holds a Masters Degree in Finance from the University of National and World Economy.
