ETK - ELTE Nature Conservation Club

ETK was established in 1983 as one of the first Hungarian environmental groups, and has played a crucial role in the emergence of a civil society and in formulating the image of the green movement. ETK has more than hundred members - most of them are former students of ELTE University. Many former members have established their own environmental groups all over the country.

The mission of ETK is to draw attention to and raise awareness of environmental problems among university students and the general public, to influence environmental policy and to co-operate with similar groups all over the country. The club reaches its aims through regular and ad hoc publications, direct actions and lobbying. Since its establishment, ETK has worked with many independent groups, including CEE Bankwatch Network.

ETK recently has 4 working groups: GAIA Magazine, GMO working group, Otter protection wg. and Cyanide working group.rating with all like-minded organisations and citizens towards the realisation of our overall objective.
