Centre for Environmental Information and Education (CEIE)
CEIE was established in late 1992 and legally registered in January 1995. The organisation works on a variety of issues, including public awareness campaigns, environmental education, institutional development, publishing, co-ordination of local NGO s' activities countrywide, lobbying, monitoring of IFIs, and special campaigns in energy and energy efficiency/renewablwes , transportation, water problems, etc. The organisation is active in international work and co-operation and acts as supporting structure for many local NGOs in this area.
A member of CEE Bankwatch Network since 1996, CEIE was one of the founders (in 1998) of the Bulgarian Association for Alternative Tourism. CEIE is a founding member (1998) of BlueLink Information Network, the Bulgarian environmental portal for the civil society.
CEIE supports the publications of other NGOs through materials, recommendations and distribution.
CEIE is also a member of European Environmental Bureau (EEB) and the Danube Environmental Forum (DEF).
Since 2003 CEIE is registered under the Bulgarian law on non-for-profit organisations as an organisation of public benefit.
